Sculpt: Sculpting playdough is the first thing that comes to everyone's mind. Its great to stretch that imagination by building anything you can conceive. Some suggestions are cars, houses, animals, food, family members or pets. Use different colors to make them come alive. Eat: While usually not a good idea, if you make your own playdough this can become a reality. Recipes for chocolate playdough are available but you must add sugar to these. They are not a nutritious snack, but since most toddlers like to eat them anyway, at least it will taste nice. It is high in salt so please do not actually encourage eating of playdough. Paint: Once you have finished with your playdough, if you leave your sculpture in the open for a few days it will go very hard. Feel free to paint it and put it up on a shelf. Join Things Together: Playdough can also be used to join things together. Go outside and find some twigs and see what new things you can make by joining many objects together. Play Ball: Its soft and solid enough to throw. It make a great ball for throwing around if you don't have any handy. But watch out if playing outside, each time it lands on the floor it gets dirtier. Paper Airplanes: You can't actually make an airplane that will fly with playdough, but you can make enhancements to existing paper planes to make them fly better. Use playdough as the weight at the front of the paper plane for paper planes with large wingspans and little forward weight. Learn Letters and Numbers: Mold the playdough into letters and/or numbers and teach children while you are playing. You can make 2D or 3D letter or numbers in different colors and sizes. Darts (with sticky playdough): Darts is not a safe game to play with young children, but it can be when there are no pointy edges. Make a few small playdough balls with a sticky recipe, generally jelly crystals in the playdough mix will do this. Then create a cardboard dart board. Have fun throwing the balls on the board and seeing them stick. Door Stop: A practical use is for jamming doors open or stopping them from hitting something. Its soft, pliable and is great for protecting slightly fragile objects. Picking Up: If you have some sticky playdough how many objects or toys can you pick up off the floor in a minute with your playdough. It's fun and can be a sneaky way to get kids to pickup their smaller toys.
